Eligibility
This annual recognition program has been developed to recognize Vice President and Dean of Students (VPDoS) staff member individuals who have made a valuable and much appreciated impact on university life, whether through their interactions with students, faculty and others, or through the development of new systems, policies and programs. Who is eligible:
Any benefits-eligible individual staff member in one of the VPDoS offices who has been in their current position a minimum of one year (Exception: Outstanding Newcomer Award requires a minimum of 6 months service in the VPDoS Division.)
Who is not eligible:
Staff Awards Committee members: Diane Fultz, Robin Graham, Lorraine Brochu, Joann Creviston, Regine Desruisseaux, Katy Hardy, Beth Niestat, Leo Kocher, and Josh Singh.
Student staff
Who can submit nominations:
Any faculty, staff, alumni or student at the University of Chicago.
Process
- The nominator can only nominate one person per award category
- The nominator must complete the nomination form for each nominee and attach to it a supporting letter (not to exceed two double-spaced typed pages) that describes the person and their accomplishments in light of the criteria for the specific award.
- Deadline to submit nominations is Wednesday, May 6th

Winners:
- A winner can only receive one award per year
- A winner one year can win an award in another category the next year
Prizes:
- Recognition at end-of-year VPDoS picnic in mid-June
- Name added to “VPDoS Staff Awards” plaque
- University of Chicago souvenir
- $25 Gift Certificate compliments of Barnes & Noble
- Winner’s lunch at the Quadrangle Club
- Complimentary Three Month Certificate to the Ratner Athletic Center
